LAHORE – On the occasion of Pakistan Day, Punjab Governor Malik Rafique Rajwana on Wednesday conferred civil awards to 24 personalities for their meritorious services in various fields.
A ceremony was held in the Governor House Lahore in which people belonging to science and technology, education, literature, agriculture, social services, journalism, fine arts, public services and music were honoured with civil awards.
Seven people which include Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha. Professor Dr Arshad Ali, Professor Dr Shahbaz Malik, Mian Aijazul Hassan, Masood Ashar, Professor Khalida Tareen and Muhammad Sheharyar Sultan were awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz.
At least 13 people were presented the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance in which Dr Nazeer, Ikramullah, Ahmad Saeed, Professor Muhammad Zakria Zakir, Amir Sohail, Wajahat Masood, Wasif Nagi, Muneer Ahmad Muneer, Masood Athar, Khalid Saleem Butt, Waseem Abbas, Late Ustad Natho Khan and Aijaz Qaiser are included.
Moreover, four personalities namely Dr Muhammad Ali, Najeebud Din Jamal, Jamil Athar Qazi and Dr H K Zahid were given Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.
