MITHI – Tharparkar Deputy Commissioner Khuda Dino Shoro has called all officials concerned for taking every possible step to maintain polio free status of Tharparkar during upcoming round of anti-polio campaign, set to start from March 14.
Presiding over a meeting to review arrangements for the three-day campaign, he said that it was collective responsibility of the government functionaries, civil society, media and above all the parents, to take joint efforts to ensure immunisation of every child against polio for elimination of crippling disease.
Any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against negligent staffer, he warned.He further directed that strict security arrangements should be taken and polio drops should also be administered to every child at all the police check post by stopping every passing by vehicle there.
He also asked representative of Rangers to cooperate with teams assigned duties to vaccinate children in the villages near border areas. Tharparkar District Health Officer Dr Arjun Kumar briefed the meeting that 835 teams have been constituted to administer polio vaccine to 213,521 children up to age of five year.
A control room has been set up at DC office with a dedicated numberto receive complaints of citizens if vaccination teams did not visit any area or people may visit the nearest health facility to administer their children polio drops.
The meeting was attended by officers of revenue, police, information, health and other relevant departments besides Coordinator World Health Organisation Dr Rajesh Kumar and representatives of local non-government organisations.
