Shortly after the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan, relief and assistance teams reached the venue of the Azadi March sit-in to give medical assistance to protesters.
The staff began facilitating the protesters in the federal capital.
In a tweet, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s official account also posted a tweet regarding the facilitation of the protesters, saying that the staff provided first aid to 678 people so far.
“Relief and assistance teams have arrived at the dharna venue and are giving first aid and medical assistance for those participants out in the rain all night. First aid provided to 678 people so far,” it read.
In some of the pictures, the officials can be seen providing first aid to the protesters.
Earlier in a tweet, PM Imran said, “I have directed the CDA Chairman to immediately visit the dharna site to assess what relief and assistance can be provided to the dharna participants”
On Tuesday, protesters at the Azadi March dharna refused to let rain or the biting cold dampen their resolve.
A picture of a few Azadi Marchers preparing to go to sleep in the biting cold and rain went viral on social media.
Protesters can be seen in the picture sleeping on mattresses laid on the ground, with blankets and plastic coverings draped over them to keep away the cold.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman to visit the Azadi March sit-in site and determine what relief can be provided to the protesters.
In a tweet, PM Imran said, “I have directed the CDA Chairman to immediately visit the dharna site to assess what relief and assistance can be provided to the dharna participants”
The prime minister stated that the relief would be provided in view of the onset of rain and changing weather conditions.

Thousands of protesters have converged on the federal capital under the banner of the Azadi March, seeking to send packing Prime Minister Imran Khan.
On the other hand, JUI-F leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has rejected the offer of PM Imran Khan saying he (PM) should keep his offer in his pocket.
Addressing the media persons after JUI-F’s meeting, Haideri said our workers have already made the arrangements. He said rain is a blessing of God but these rulers are a curse on people.
Haideri said the march would continue till the resignation of PM Imran. He said they offered Friday prayers at the same place last week and they will also offer coming Friday prayer.
It may be mentioned here that two more protesters of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) Azadi March lost their lives in Islamabad on Wednesday morning, taking the toll to three.
According to details, Maulana Saifullah suffered a heart attack at the time of Tahajjud whereas Molvi Akhtar Muhammad died of illness. Earlier, 55-year-old Larkana resident Abdul Kareem Jan felt a heart attack and was rushed to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
