Speakers at a ‘Niday-e-Ummat Conference’ held under the aegis of the Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) on Thursday vehemently condemned Quetta suicide blast and expressed solidarity with heirs and families of the martyrs of the blast.
They lauded the government of Pakistan and law enforcement agencies’ role in counter terrorism operations, and expressed solidarity with the security institutes of the country.
The moot extended its support to Dar-ul-Aftaa – a decree released by the PUC – stating that any sort of political gatherings and protest demonstrations during days of Umrah and Hajj are against Shariah. The conference also appealed to pilgrims visiting Saudi Arabia for Hajj and Umrah to stay away from political sloganeering, processions and protests. The conference also condemned terror attacks in France, Germany and America and also condemned killing of a cleric in US, besides urging world leadership to unite for world peace. While expressing concern over prevailing peace situation in Palestine, Kashmir, Syria and Yemen, the speakers appealed to UN, OIC and other world organisations to make an end to ongoing oppression and cruelties in Indian-held Kashmir and Palestine. The conference urged world leadership to play their role to end foreign intervention in Syria and Yemen.
It also condemned foreign interference in Islamic countries, particularly in Arab countries and also condemned all sorts of endeavours to create sectarian-based violence in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Bahrain.
The moot also called on Iran and Arab countries to move for dialogue and negotiations for peace and stability in Islamic world and urged Muslim leadership to make serious endeavours to settle all confronting issue in a peaceful atmosphere. The conference lauded Saudi Arabia for not indulging in war with Iran:
It also condemned terror attacks in Turkey, and added that some elements wanted to play havoc with peace and stability in Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. “Islamic countries need to devise a unanimous policy on permanent grounds to settle all confronting challenges,” they emphasised.
The conference appealed to the government of Pakistan on behalf of Turkish government to devise an explicit strategy for ‘Turk Schools System’ on permanent grounds as future of thousands students studying in the schools was on stake.
It also lauded Pakistan Ulema Council and its leadership for the cause of interfaith and intersect harmony in the country. All the organisations and religious schools of thought also announced to extend their support and cooperation with the PUC.
Several Muslim countries ambassador, Ulemas of different religious sects attended the conference that was presided over by PUC Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi.
